As a budding baker, I frequently have stubborn bits of pastry, dough or melted chocolate caked onto my fingers and nails following a good old hand mix.  So when I was given the opportunity to try out the ‘world’s first’ nail brush invention, obviously I agreed.  The fact that it is apparently the world’s most hygienic nail brush surely makes it perfect for kitchen use.

My first impression of the BruzZ was that I could smell it before I opened the packet.  Fortunately, it was a very pleasant scent; the bristles are impregnated with vanilla extract so your nails come out smelling delicious.  With its rounded white body and black bristles, it also looks sleek and clean.

It didn’t take long to put the BruzZ to the test.  Smearing dark chocolate over the back of some freshly-baked florentines resulted in some very brown, sticky nails.  I followed the instructions by putting a squeeze of hand soap into the bristles and then got to work. The BruzZ nail brush

The first thing that struck me was the lack of splatter.  I associate nail brushes with little drops of dirty nail water spraying all over everything in a two-metre radius, but not so with this beauty.  Somehow, the design eliminates that problem.  Clever!

The chocolate under my nails came away easily.  The shape of the brush makes it perfect for cleaning your whole finger too, so my fingers were chocolate-free in no time.  So far, so good! The BruzZ nail brush

The BruzZ’s next test was slightly more, well, testing.  I had just finished making cookie dough and a significant portion of it was firmly stuck on, under and around my nails.  This required a little bit more elbow grease with the BruzZ.  However, because the bristles are soft and rubbery as opposed to hard and spiky like a traditional brush, I could scrub enough to shift the dough without irritating my skin.

It was definitely harder to get rid of all traces of dough from under my nails.  As there are bristles on three sides of the brush, I was able to catch all of it by just angling my fingers a little differently.

The BruzZ nail brushThe BruzZ nail brushA quick rinse washed all excess dough out of the BruzZ ready for its next use.  Apparently it is also possible to remove the bristles and clean them in the dishwasher, so I can imagine that this is a nailbrush that you could keep for a long time.

All in all, well done to designer Emma Myers; the BruzZ really is much better than a normal nailbrush.  I will certainly be keeping mine on standby next to the kitchen sink!
